Phase I Periodontal Therapy

Phase I Periodontal Therapy is a procedure used to help stop the progression of your periodontal disease. Our goal is to help avoid periodontal surgery in the future – a cost of over six thousand dollars.

Our procedure consists of scaling and root planning, use of our soft tissue diode laser and placement of an antimicrobial agent.

Scaling and Root Planing: is done by quadrant (your mouth has four quadrants). You will be given a local anesthetic to make you comfortable. The roots of all teeth are scaled to remove all mechanical irritants (tartar) which aide in periodontal infection. All teeth are scaled regardless of pocket depth/bone loss. This is done to prevent the periodontal bacteria from colonizing in any healthy areas of your mouth.
